​I like helping other people and to make the world a better place. I may not be able to solve all the issues, but hopefully, I can bring a smile to people’s faces and let them know someone cares about them. 

By volunteering, you can meet new people in the community that you may never know. It lets you see outside of your “own” world and shows you that everyone does not have the same lifestyle. What I may take for granted is a need for others. Our community is made up of many different types of people. When you stay in your own circle, you only see your little section of Laramie.

Stepping outside your circle when you volunteer allows you to see the diversity inside of Laramie and where people in Laramie need help.

I like working with Laramie Connections as they are always striving to meet the needs of the community. When Laramie Connections helps you, you become part of their family whom they care about. I like being a volunteer driver and meeting new people and hearing their stories. Many people are not able to enjoy the free meal on Sunday because they do not have transportation, something many of us take for granted. Being a driver, I am able to give these people a ride to a hot meal on Sunday afternoon and then they can fellowship with other people. Even more important, is being able to give rides for people who have no way to get to their much-needed doctor’s appointments.

I like to volunteer as it is my way of serving God by helping others. I am not perfect, however, I want people to see God’s love through me and what I do.

Carmen is such a blessing! She completely embodies the mission and intentions of Laramie Connections. Carmen has a genuine spirit that connects with everyone she meets and serves. Her willingness to hear people's stories and share life with them is amazing! We are super grateful to have Carmen behind the wheel as she brings others so faithfully and consistently to our Sunday community meal!
